Upper fret access is sorta average - better than your average single-cutaway axe because of the smaller neck joint and the more compact frets, but probably nowhere near as good as a V- or Explorer-shaped guitar. On the high E and the B strings, it's easy enough to reach all the way up to the 24th fret for those top-of-the-scale bends etc., but on the other strings, it gets quite tricky reaching past the 21st - certainly you can't barre or sweep up that far.
