im not sure about the shaky barrel in transit thing, it would apply to a real ale, but not guinness.
with guiness the biggest varients in whether you get a good pint or not is in how its poured, followed by how well the cellar/lines are kept. the product in the barrel is pretty much uniform wherever you are.
