I have been wondering lately...

If I get an amp such as this one Fender Deville 410 60watt , and add some distortion pedal. Not a harsh one, but a smooth rich overdrive/distortion pedal. Then put the amp on the "high gain" setting, (fender amp aren't that distorted) and use the pedal on low distortion but high volume, could I get a soaring lead tone. One that really cuts through all other sounds screams. Not a weak tone/distortion, but one that can respond the slightest touch of fingers. But not too distorted to make it sound unmusical or brittel.

Im asking cause I really want to get distortion and the "lead tone" the old fashion way. No dual-rectos aloud. Since Fender amps have such a good clean tone, I might aswell invest in something that will last. A clean tone either good or bad, but you can manipulate distortion tones the way you want.

I dont really know if this makes sense  , but please reply if you have anything to say. Would this work?
