One of the things I like the most about GT is the fact that everybody has such a broad appreciation of music, and that we have the opportunity to share our tastes in this section of the forum. I have been introduced to so many fantastic bands and artists by all of you guys, and I thought that perhaps we could all name some of these - not only to thank the users who introduced us to them, but also to further expand each others' tastes in music. I'll start:

#Joe Bonamassa - thanks aschleman! This guy is a brilliant electric bluesman in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
#Steely Dan - I can't believe I was missing out on this band. It was only when somebody - I think it was z0s0 - mentioned them in the "most talented band" thread that I finally discovered their brilliance.
#Massive Attack - thanks Pony. Listening to these guys got me started on a lot of other trip-hop stuff as well, and I'm loving it.
#Devo - don't laugh! :o Cheers, Earthman.
#Merle Haggard - never thought I would ever be able to bring myself to listen to an entire country CD, but there's a first time for everything, I suppose! Thanks muchly, Ninj.
#Tony MacAlpine - the only neo-classical shredder I really like. Thanks Jolly.
#Bob to the Rescue - thanks again, Jolly!
#Dream Theatre - Eric, you opened my eyes!
#Death - it's all Cryptic's fault that I'm turning into a death metal maniac :p

What are yours?
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

I beg you to influence me!

..omg, you just did!

checking out Joe Bonamassa, cause I really want to go more into Blues and sweet guitar tunes
and Necrophagist, personally I find Behemoth to be a very good deathmetal band, so I'm just curious

[edit]it's dream theater (not theatre) btw, ..I really sound like a know-it-all now, don't I :p
= good music is good drinking =

And Jeff, you almost influenced me - I checked out The Deftones when you mentioned them, but I didn't like them all that much :p.

+1 to steely dan. love em.

eh, basically, pre-GT, I was a ska kid. Now I have a much broader selection. Into the progressive metal now.

and Bol is in my friends list, what more can I ask for?

All I can really think of is "Bob to the Rescue." Jolly, it's just great. Just a question, where'd you get the name "Boxing Rabbi Stienberg?"

I think it was ericthecableguy's persistence that led me to listen to Dream Theater (or was it Theatre?). I didn't really like it, but at least now I know, right?

I can't really think of any other well-known bands at the moment, but I do listen to GT members' music from time to time.

When I graduated high school, one of my friends gave me a little boxing doll that looked like a rabbi. So I wrote "The Boxing Rabbi Steinberg."

No prob man!! I've been listening to him for awhile now and I love his blues stuff... Another recommendation I have for anyone into blues is Eric Sardinas....... He plays slide acoustic. His vocals aren't anything to brag about but his music is very "Delta'esque"... right to the core of what blues should be. I recommend him as well...

Funny thing about Joe Bonamassa... I jam with a group of guys here in Lafayette who are all family members.. Their kid brother... 12 years old... plays the harmonica and he just cut a track with Joe Bonamassa... haha, pretty crazy. He was also on Americas Got Talent. Check him and his older brother Cole out......... go to youtube and search for LD Miller. I play with his brother Clayton... and their other guitarist Jared Scaggs everynow and then.
