Personally... I think all wear and tear is ok. I don't plan on selling any of my guitars and I want to play them so I enjoy them. I certainly don't baby my guitars... I don't wear big belt buckles so I've never had to worry about buckle rash... But even if I did... I don't think it would be a major concern of mine. It's on the back of the guitar... Most people don't play the guitar backwards... that I know of... Unless I'm doing something wrong... I like worn and relic'd guitars. It shows character and it also gives them that special unique feel.
