I have a question rounding my mind, what would it be better in sound, buying a good tube amp or a podxt pro run directly to my amp (crate 212) or either to the PA??

thanx!

Depends on the kind of sound you want, I s'pose... I'd go for the POD, especially if you already have a Crate amp.

try em out, i've heard good and bad things about Pod XT's, some say the sound is to synthetic, and if you believe your current amp already sounds too solid state-ish then it might just add to your problem. I'd go for the POD because of the sheer flexibility of that thing in terms of modern sounds, but if you're playing old school rock or are a tone junkie then you're gonna feel better with the tube amp.

It all depends on how many different tones you need. I have both a PODxt and a POD 2.0, and love them both. If you're going to be using it through a guitar amp, I'd go with a POD 2.0 or POD Pro 2.0. If it will mainly be used for recording I'd go with the XT.

There are a lot of threads on this subject, so use the search function and search for POD and PODxt, and you'll find several other posts by myself and many other people on the subject.

As alway's, the best thing to do is... TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

well, you could get the podxt live, and run that through either the amp or the PA. preferably the PA, because crate amps aren't the greatest. or you could buy your tube amp, and have that. either way, whichever you think sounds better. personally I came upon the same descision a while back and decided on a peavey XXX combo amp. all tube and only cost me $500 on sale. ultimately the choice is yours, but either will work fine (the podxt route will probably be cheaper though)

I have the GX 212 amp... mostly used for rehearsal, Ive probably used the POD plugged directly into a console... but I was thinking that maybe the PODxt pro will be better for the connections it has when recording... but I need helP!!!
