What kind of rosewood.

I read somewhere that fender used to make their strat necks with brazillian rosewood im not sure if thatstrue id be glad if some one could help me.

They still do on some strats. Especially in the custom shop. Brazillian Rosewood tends to have light colored streaks in the grain, it's a decorative wood. As far as tone differences, it's a preference call. I personally don't here any tonal difference between the two woods.

Not to be too pedantic, but Strat NECKS are made from maple, and the FINGERBOARDS are made from either rosewood or maple. I believe Brazilian rosewood is now an endangered species, so it carries a premium price, which is why it appears on Custom Shop instruments.

Don't you just love that attitude? The, "your about to kill of a species, so it's really valuable" thing, it happens with animals too. Grrr.
