my equipment is: a guitar conected to cry baby, then to zoom gfx 707 then to marshall valvstate 15 watt amp, and from its line-out to the computer, i have a pentium III, 600 mhz and a vibra 128 sb card... the program i'm using is goldwave, but somehow i'm not able to hear any sound when playing or recording.. i also tried to do it direct via the zoom, but it didnt work as well

Did you fiddle with your computer's mixer to turn up the line in? You may have to try it in playback and recording properties.

Check your Windows sound card duplex settings: Select Start - Settings - Control Panel and then open the System icon. Select the Device Manager tab at the top of the page and then scroll down to Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Click on the Plus sign to expand the devices. At this point, your sound card settings may be different from mine. I have a Creative AWE64 - When I highlight the card and select properties, there is a Settings tab along with the General, Driver and Resource tabs. On the Settings tab, there is a checkbox "Allow Full-Duplex operation". If this is not checked, you cannot record and playback at the same time. Your Vibra card supports full-duplex, so maybe this is the problem.
