Tyson was just plain dangerous back in 1983-85...had they both been in their prime and fought at the same time I predict Tyson would have sent Ali to the mat in the first round...ding ding...fights over

regardless what a fight that would have been :D
I thought my name was dammit til I was 18 years old...

ali in his prime would have taken tyson to the eightth round, somewhere tysons never been then he woulda danced, pop, dance, shukalucka, pop, dance, bye bye.

tyson fights with too much aggression and not enough precision. ali would have led him on and picked his left hook at him.
ali was the master backfoot fighter, tyson was a slugger.
it woulda been another rumble in the jungle but with an easier opponent.
goerge foreman was quite a good technical boxer. ali outplayed him.
ali would have outplayed tyson, like a kid picking the wings off a fly.

Ali beat Freman, and I reckon Foreman could have beaten Tyson in his prime... still though anything can happen once the bell rings, would be a great fight to watch. Put and of those guys in the UFC up against the prime fighters and they would be trampled in the first round though!

If it were the 1986-1988 version of Tyson I don't think you could beat him.

It would depend if tyson was hungry or not. Ali couldnt fight with one ear... :p
I am Comfortably Numb... :D

The greatest enemy to what you can know, is what you already know.

It's not how good you play, its how well you play it.

Wow, I completely missed this thread!! Here goes

Ali had stamina... he had the reach... and he has something tyson doesn't have... a jab... Ali had the ability to evade.

Tyson had the raw strenght and arguably faster hands than Ali... He was built like an Ox and could take punishment to the body... He was the one-punch wonder. He fought the whole fight just trying to land one good hook or upper cut... a blow in which claimed many victims.

Ali takes Tyson becuase he not only has a reach advantage which allows him to keep distance from Tysons attempts at his end-all blows... With stiff jabs Ali would wear him out. But also Tyson would have a height disadvantage that would allow Ali to come down on him and leave him covering his head. Ali knocks Tyson down a few times and ends it with a KO in the late 7th or 8th (like someone said).
