Why not get a univibe pedal, such as the one Dunlop makes?

Was it the UV-1 Uni-Vibe you listened to, or the UV-1SC, the Uni-Vibe Stereo Chorus? There are some who say the SC doesn't have the same sound as the "big box," the UV-1.
On http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/univibe/univtech.htm, R.G. Keen says the UV is a phaser or phase shifter. Looking around at other phasers, you might find one that sounds right to you.
Harmony Central has a whole database of reviews for various effects, http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects, but the ultimate test of any pedal will be whether it's the sound you want.
