Who copied who?

The song "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Still and Nash, has a start that sounds way too familiar to some part in Bad Company's "Shooting Star". Who copied who? And just in case Crosby, Still, Nash or one or some of them were members of Bad Co., don't you dare laugh at me. Enlighten me instead.
