Looking for a new guitar
I am getting ready to purchase a new acoustic guitar and was looking for any recommendations. I have been looking at Taylors, Mratins, and yesterday checked out some Simon & Patricks.

If you're looking for an acoustic, try an ovation. That's what I've got and I really love it.

get an electric guitar
Anyway, I havent been playing too long but I like the Ibanez serious (AE series). I dont the the sound is quite as good as the Ovation but I like the cut out design of it.
Practice, practice, practice...

Don't see how you could go wrong with a Martin or a Taylor. That's a serious $$$ investment there. The Ovations are a little different (roundback vs. dreadnaught) but try them also. You may want to get a built in pick up as well. Let your hands and ears be the final word and good luck.

All i know is the two best sounding acoustics i have ever heard were both Taylors. Like someone said about, it's a serious investment. But if you want the best your going to have to search and play for what you want.

From the acoustics I've tried, Taylor has the best sound, but they tend to be expensive. Otherwise, Fender has the best quality/price ratio of all the brands I've seen. Just to bad their electrics suck.

If you have a lot of money to blow look into a goodall they are all handmade and have huge bodies plus they are a joy to play but they are very pricey

I just recently bought a new acoustic. I looked at Martin,Taylor, & Guild. I bought a DV52 Guild & am not in the least bit dissapointed. The main points I looked for was 1 sound & playabilty, 2 AMERICAN MADE, 3 Ebony fretboard. One sugestion I would make is play all you can get your hands on then buy one from out of state. This will save you sales tax. The shipping will be cheaper than the tax. Which ever you decide on have fun. Please let us know what you decide on.

It's important to go to a shop that only sells acoustic guitars.
When I bought an acoustic i tried many of them in a special room. I had all the time. All the guitars i could easely try from cheap to very expensive ones. When I made my choice i waited a while and went back another day with another guitarplayer and let him play it to. It's good to hear someone else playing on the guitar. The difference in sound is great. Take the time to find out what you really like.

The Dimebag electrics are just one item on a long list of products. I have an old EAMTS20 electric/acoustic that sounds amazing! The intonation is more accurate than any other acoustic guitar I've ever played. How many acoustic guitars come from the factory with Grover high-ratio tuning pegs?
If you live in Canada, (hey, even if you don't!), check out Simon & Patrick, from St. Laurent, Quebec.

Their guitars are an inpressive combination of traditional and inovative construction techniques. Very rich sound that actually gets better over the years.
I guess the best advice is to take the time to look around. 'Brand X' isn't necessarily the best guitar for you.
Acoustic guitars, good ones anyway, seem to 'come alive' in your hands. Stroke a few of these ladies, and see which ones sing for you.

hey,
more people own, or want to own a martin than any other acoustic guitar in the world.
i prefer an acoustic, with alot of low end, a really full sound, so for me martin was the choice, taylors are great, but they(most anyway) have a real high "tingy" sound, expecially the maples. larravie make some incredible guitars, and since you did mention martin and taylor i am guessing that you have a good bit of money so also lowden is another great but expensive maker.
and to ac, way to go man "they suck, buy an electric" that is awesome, with that kind of an open mind about instruments and music you will go far, i bet even the guys from ac/dc would make fun of you for that one....idiot!
anyhey, good luck on you new guitar, you will KNOW when you find the right one.

Ovations are great but ya have to put up with that beveled backing...personally it drives me nuts cause it's constantly slipping away from me. I'd probably suggest getting one with a stereo output built in no matter what you get. It makes a huge difference in the studio.

I like the simon and patrick range, I own one and have had no problems and the sound is to die for, however if I had the £1000. + at the time I think I would have gone for a taylor. I have had my S&P for about 2 years now and it has never let me down in practice or gig.
My fav. guitar is my Fender Strat. But for people to slate or put acoustics down is silly, the acoustic opened the door for the electric did it not. Listen to Robert Johnson and tell me if the electric could make him sound better tahn he did, I think not.
Hope you find what youre looking for.
