Damnit... am I on the ball?

Thanks guys, I think I get it now (at least part of it). But man is it confusing! So in actuality, whenever I'm jamming with friends and say, "blues in A minor", I should be saying, "C Aeolian"? And subsequently every song that is based off the fifth fret A I have involuntarily regarded as "A Minor" when in fact it is "C Aeolian"? It would be C Aeolian and not A Aeolian, right? Cause A Aeolian (key of A, sixth note) would be F#.
