I assume you're talking about the audio files for the tricks. Therefore, I moved your thread to the appropriate section.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Can you play CDs when you put them in your computers CD ROM ? If so then you should be able to listen to MP3s down loaded from GT.

So, assuming you have a sound card and speakers hooked up correctly and you can play other MP3s.......

If you have downloaded them they should play like any other audio file with an application like RealPlayer (or real one or whatever it is called these days) or iTunes or similar.

The other thing is that there is a limit on the number of downloads / day.

This limits bandwidth usage and lowers the cost of running this site. It also stops people spidering GT.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

Speaking of downloading Mp3s from this site, am I allowed to send some of them that I found particularly cool to other guitarists I know, i.e. Moog Boog mp3 to other guitarists without fear of being sued? I haven't done it yet, but before I do...

Well.. I can't speak for the other instructors but you should probably get permission first. It's sort of a grey area right now and kinda depends on the situation and what file you're talking about. ie, moogboog is available in 3 different versions.
The first one is maybe 500k and extremely "lofi". That one is free to be passed around (for now) as long as the copyright info (and preferably the lesson) goes with it.
The second one is about about 3MB and of better quality. That one is being sold on a CD and individually at places like iTunes and I'd prefer you get permission first before ya just give it away to somebody. (although for now, I'm letting guitartricks users access it on my own server for free)
The third one which hasn't been released yet, is the final "hifi" version and should be treated like any other copyrighted song. ie, I'm gonna be selling it so I'd prefer it if ya didn't just give it away.

As far as the lessons go tho... like I said... it's a grey area right now cause Guitartricks is eventually going to morph into a pay-per-use site. Once that happens, I think we're gonna get more stringent as to what gets passed around.

In that case could I send it as a tapping lesson to some of my friends and students? (And perhaps just as a "Dude, you gotta check this out!" to a couple buddies?)

Sure, as long as the original copyright info stays intact.

So as long as I tell everybody that I wrote and recorded it, it's cool? Thanks a lot, man! ;) You know what it needs, though? Lyrics...I'ma go write some...and next time I play it, I'ma sing it.
